Choosing the school for your child’s education is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a parent. Their grade school experiences will shape their life choices and lay the foundation for future successes or failures.
St. Paul Catholic School’s philosophy, curriculum, and activities are centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ and that’s what sets our school apart from others. If you have children about to start Preschool or if you are new to the Highland area, we invite you to look around our website and discover what St. Paul School can offer your child.

July 13, 2020 - Message from Principal Todora
Dear St. Paul Community,
It is with great enthusiasm that I accept the position as principal of St. Paul Catholic School. I am truly honored to be joining the Viking community here at St. Paul Catholic Parish and School, and excited to be journeying with you as we venture towards cutting edge teaching and learning techniques in the advancement of Catholic education. As parents in Catholic education, we understand the importance of a trusted and exceptional faith based environment where students are safe and can grow in their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. I humbly accept the opportunity to partner with you as we carry on the mission of St. Paul Catholic Parish and School. Thank you, Father Pat, for having the confidence in me to work with this community to embrace our vision as we meet the needs of all our students during these challenging times.
As we navigate the challenges of COVID-19, our Catholic schools continue to nurture the souls of our students while providing a comprehensive academic program, built on a long tradition of excellence. Despite the outstanding efforts of our teachers and staff to carry out the demands of distance learning, we recognize that nothing can fully replace the value of relationships established in the classroom between students and teachers, and students and their classmates. We believe and recognize that learning and formation are at their best when occurring in a classroom. While remote learning offered us the capacity to carry on during the pandemic, it cannot emulate the richness of in-person classroom experience.
We will be following guidelines recommended by the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, Centers for Disease Control, Illinois State Board of Education, American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Catholic Education Association, and the US Environmental Protection Agency as we open to in-school learning for the 2020-2021 school year. We believe our small class sizes, coupled with the support of our parents, teachers, staff and greater school community, will allow for the safe reopening of our campus. I will be communicating the framework for our safe reopening once it has been finalized. We are confident that our schools’ health protocols and processes will keep our school environment as healthy and as safe as possible for all members of our community.
I look forward to when I can meet each and every one of you as we work together in a spirit of cooperation for the common good of our children and community. We recognize that parents are the first teachers of their children, and we fully understand that you have made a cognizant choice and firm commitment to ensure your child receives an excellent Catholic education; my expectation is to obtain maximum effectiveness! Though there are many alternatives to Catholic education, there are not substitutes, and we thank you for your continued commitment and support.
May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and enlighten us,
Principal, St. Paul Catholic School
